MY NEW BEDROOM

My little redecoration has finally come to an end! (Except the carpet, but let's not talk about that.)
I have finished decorating my bedroom, which, may I add, it so desperately needed. I had last redecorated when I was 11, so it was basically pink and pretty with a very random hint of royal blue :|

My new colour scheme is grey and white with a hint of yellow (sounds familiar ;)) and here it is! I hope you enjoy my amateur photography!
Also, please excuse the creepy face on the TV, me and my boyfriend were watching Lost, and we couldn't switch it off because we are hooked!

I am so happy with how everything came together, and although I was initially pretty worried that the grey walls would be a little too dark as my room is quite small, I think it really works! And the pop of yellow gives it another layer.
My favourite part is the bedding and cushions, especially the "My Side" one, which was a bargain from Asda.

Here is a list of the things I've pictured above which I purchased recently to decorate my room, and I have added links to the products where I can. Enjoy!

My Side cushion - £7 ASDA
Yellow zigzag cushion - £8 DUNELM MILL
Grey heart cushion - £2.99 B&M
Dark grey fluffy cushion - £4 ASDA
Grey and yellow bedding - £16.99 DUNELM MILL
Yellow fluffy throw - £9.99 DUNELM MILL
Yellow lamp - £5 B&Q
Heart fairy lights - £6 PRIMARK
White dressing table mirror - £4.99 B&M
Jewellery hooks - £6.99 Small boutique in Leigh-On-Sea
White heart drawers (I use for jewellery) - £5.99 THE RANGE
Yellow candle - £2.50 PRIMARK
Tall gold mirror - £35 IKEA
Gas Station box (I use it for make-up) - £2.99 THE RANGE
White multi frame - £12.99 MATALAN

I thoroughly enjoyed designing and decorating my room, and I would now happily consider a career in interior design (which a few people have even suggested to me since this endeavour). I now cannot wait to move into my own flat/house and do it all over again!

Do you enjoy decorating? What colour themes are your rooms? Let me know :)

Valentine’s (aka stuff my face with chocolate) Day 2015

I’m not entirely convinced that Valentine’s Day should really be an actual holiday; mainly because I’m usually single and I will openly admit that seeing shed loads of couples uploading photos of their new Michael Kors watches or Pandora charms with the hashtag #boydonegood made me cringe.

HOWEVER! This year, I happened to find myself ‘with significant other’. I KNOW! I couldn’t believe it either.  And so, like many other 20 something couples, we went out for a couple of drinks and dinner in Covent Garden, London.

We had both been to Bill’s before, but only for dessert. Which led us to perusing the menu, and oogling the mouth-watering dishes. Therefore, it seemed like a pretty obvious choice for us to go for dinner some time….and Valentine’s Day is as good a day as any!

Now, if you haven’t been before, I would strongly advise you take a cheeky look at their menu (http://bills-website.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Bills-Food-Menu-London.pdf)

OH MY SWEET JESUS! It is honestly one of the best places I have ever been. To start, my boyfriend and I shared the spiced tortilla chips. This was a decision made solely on the addition of tzatziki, which we are both completely obsessed with. And I have to say, it did not disappoint at all. The chips were rather spicy though, and they did sting my lips a little, but I still absolutely loved them!

For mains, I went for the Bill’s hamburger, whilst my boyfriend decided on the beer-battered cod. If I’m honest, whilst they were tasty, the mains didn’t really wow me. But I would suppose that’s because we were only eating them as a filler between the tzatziki starter and the wonderful desserts we knew were to come!

Which leads me on to the…….

ETON MESS

I can’t describe this to you. A few choice words come to mind; divine, superb, a gift sent from heaven. We shall say no more or I will start drooling on my keyboard.

As you can see, although many couples see Valentine’s as a chance to give and receive fancy presents, in my eyes it is a chance to spend time with my amazing boyfriend, and to eat really good food whilst doing so. The best present I could ever receive is a beautiful meal with my beautiful  man.
And the Eton Mess.

What did you get up to this Valentine’s Day? Have you eaten at Bill’s before? I’d love to know :)

PS. LOVE - WHY PRIMARK IS THE BEST FOR MAKE-UP!

I have a confession to make... As much as I love make-up, I just cannot cope with spending all my money on beauty products. I much prefer splashing whatever cash I may have on clothing, and although people will tell you that you need to spend the money to get quality beauty products, I just don't think that's quite true.

In the last couple of years, Primark have really developed and, in my opinion, improved their range of make-up and beauty items. In the last year they have come out with the PS. Love range, and, since then, the range has just got better and better.

Today I popped into the Tottenham Court Road store, which is one of my favourites (after Leeds ;D) and I was originally shopping in aid of finding an outfit for Valentine's Day. However, I soon found myself at the back of the second floor, perusing the aisles of the make-up section. I had recently read a blog post about their highlighter crayon, so I already knew I was after something in this section. However, I came out with a couple of other things....

EYE BRIGHTENER CRAYON

This little gem would be perfect for under the brow, which is exactly how I intend to use it! I also think it will look lovely in the corner of the eye as a highlight.
The texture is super creamy and soft, and will blend really easily if you want to use it on the eye. I did try to swatch it, but it didn't show up so well on my hand, so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it ;) and for £1 you really cannot go wrong.

SMUDGER EYE LINER

I am forever buying black eye liner pencils because I use them every.single.day in my tight-line. For £1, I thought I would give this a go and, if it's no good, it was rather inexpensive. However, it is so perfect! It lines beautifully, and is super black, which is what I really want in an eyeliner. It's soft too, so won't scratch up your eyes, which is always nice. The smudger is also a nice touch, as it means you can blend the line out to achieve and simple and easy smoky eye. The lid is also a sharpener. I mean...what more could you ever want?!

And finally.....this is possibly the most exciting purchase I have ever made in Primark...

ROSE GOLD PALETTE

Now, before I tell you the price of this absolute beauty, lets just take a look at it shall we...

The rose gold packaging; the amount of colours; the fact it looks like an iPad. I just... I can't even. I can't. I am unable to even. It is beautiful.

Eye shadow palettes have always been my weakness, and what I have splurged on most in the past (I do own a Naked palette :O), so when this caught my eye I couldn't just leave it sitting there in the shop.

The colours are stunning, and the pay-off is flawless. I have only swatched this on my hand and am yet to use it on my eyes, so I am unsure of how much it will drop, but I have my hopes.

Unlike most big palettes, this one has colours that are actually wearable! There is a mixture of matte and shimmer colours, and a wide range on the spectrum. The two greens are the ones that caught my eye initially (no pun intended), as I have green eyes and thought these could look amazing worked into a look. I am beyond excited to try this out.

Oh, and did I mention it was £3!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!

I kid you not. Three blinkin' pounds! Okay, so it was in the "sale" and was originally £10, but I still think I would pay that for this beautiful item. So at 3 little pound coins I could not, would not and should not leave it in Primark. So now it has a new home...........
on my dressing table :D

Have you tried the Primark PS. Love range? What's your favourite budget make-up? Let me know :)

BRAND NEW BEDROOM!

HELLO!

Okay....ooookkkkaaaaaayyyyyyy *emoji embarrassed face*
I know I haven't blogged in nearly a year. I know that! I've been rather busy, I'll have you know.

I am now a graduate ;)

In other news..I have moved back home and am decoration my rather horrid pink and blue 12 year old room into something lovely and suitable for a 22 year old graduate.
My colour theme, I hear you cry?!

Grey and yellow!

I am aware that this  combination sounds a little odd, and I was reassured by that after my sisters reaction of "LOL RANDOM!" :|
But trust me, when it's all put together, it's going to look lovely.

At the moment we are still in that 'starting to paint' stage, and there is so much to do that I'm struggling to see an end, despite the amazing help from my mum and boyfriend*
Yesterday was a "Dunelm" day, where I bought allllllll the grey and yellow things. I think that is my favourite part about decorating, I LOVE buying new home things. I cannot wait to move out on my own, Which is something I am striving for this year. Fingers crossed 2015 is the one!!

Do you have a new year resolution? Are you currently decorating? Let me know :)

HAIR TODAY, GONE TOMORROW!

I have had long, almost black (with a tinge of purple) hair for quite some time now:

I had searched for and tried many different ways to fade it, including washing it with dish soap and rubbing in baking soda, however, none of these methods worked. I found Color B4 online and read loads of reviews. And I mean... LOADS!
They were mostly positive, however I always take note of the few negatives, which said things like "my hair turned yellow" or "it was a waste of money"
At £11.99 it isn't exactly pricey...but it isn't cheap either. When I found it in ASDA for £8 for two boxes, I thought I didn't really have much to lose.

And I was right! Besides the awful smell of rotten eggs, it really does work. I have gone from a dark dark colour with years of dye build up to...THIS:

I am amazingly impressed! Although the product claims to take you to your natural colour, and I am sure my colour is not this auburn, I am in love with my new hair!

I would advise this product to anyone who is struggling to remove their dark dye, and as it contains no bleach or ammonia, my hair is still in tip top condition! BONUS!

Do you dye your hair at home? What's your favourite colour product? I'd love to know :)

STOP MOTION

In my first Creative Media lecture we were told what we were to do this year...
"Create anything"
Why is it when you have all the options in the world, your mind goes completely blank?! After some thought, I looked into the first thing that popped into my head...stop motion.
I've always liked this method of creating moving image, even though I've never even attempted to create it myself. It's clever and creative, and I decided that I wanted to test myself and give it a go.
Currently, I am still in the stages of researching it. I've found some incredible videos, and one that I really liked was the exact sort of thing I wanted to make!
I like lyric videos, and even though this one is simple, I like the way the lyrics and images are quite cartoony (?) and that is EXACTLY what I want to make.
So.....I am going to download myself Avid, whip out my old Olympus Pen and give it some practice. I think it's one of those things you need to keep at until you learn, and I'm suspecting that it will take a lot of patience. Something I often lack.
If anyone would like to give me some advice on this, it would be much appreciated :)

THIRD YEAR, HERE I COME

Summer is nearly over for me, and in less than two weeks I will be returning back to Leeds to finish my third and final year of my degree! That thought is terrifying and exciting in equal measures.
My summer holidays have been spent the most boring way; working and watching crap TV. I can announce I have managed to watch almost the entire show reel of Airline (I'm up to series 7 at the moment) and I've read 4 out of 7 Harry Potter Books. Not to mention, I have watched about 57,980 films.
I did, however, get to buy lots of new things for my house and for uni. Rugs, cushions, candles and of course
STATIONARY

Going back to Leeds means actually having a social life, because being a student is so much easier than working. And I also get to see my house mates, who I do tend to miss when I am away from them for too long....like a couple of pets ;D

The year is going to bring so much hard work and dedication to finally finish my degree with a mark I am proud of, and I am going to give this year 110% so I can graduate and find my dream job. Obviously, all this working will fund my traveling plans for a few years time! I'm also hoping to go on holiday during this year, possibly before my final exams, and it will be so great to get away and sit in the sun before the real stress begins.

LET THE YEAR BEGIN!
